Archive: Jewellery Commission
I am in the process of streamlining my website and have made the decision to archive lots of old projects and services to my blog. In this post I will be talking about when jewellery used to be a huge part of Mia Mai.
When I launched Mia Mai I started making unique jewellery pieces by hand using reclaimed components and vintage finds to get some cash coming in.
Early pieces were an eclectic blend of beads, charms and chains meaning each piece was as individual as the customer. As all components are either handcrafted or found; those buying Mia Mai jewellery would be safe in the knowledge that they were wearing a true original.
Over the years it’s become something I do less and less. In 2013 I launched the last Mia Mai jewellery range: a selection of waxed cord and natural stone festival jewellery for the 2013 Victorious Festival.
Previously I had also been commissioned to create unusual jewellery items for a specific project or occasion. In 2009 London based photographer Rose Lien made contact enquiring about some jewellery for a shoot inspired by the story of Adam and Eve. I designed and made the jewellery for the following shoot.
