Pillow Fight

You must have heard of Ohh Deer??? If not, get over there right away and check them out… making art, selling pretty things and sharing some incredibly talented artists and illustrators along the way!! In their own words… “Ohh Deer was founded in 2011 by Mark Callaby and Jamie Mitchell, it’s original intention was to rid them of some spare time and overflowing creativity. It evolved before the brand launched online, they designed collections of products with about 10 Illustrators and since then the brand’s core objective is to support creative talent and make work by their contributors accessible, spreading their work far and wide (geographically and through the internet-machine). Each Illustrator gets a big percentage of the profit from everything they sell. Ohh Deer use recycled materials where possible and everything Ohh Deer produces is made in the UK. Ohh Deer has work on sale with the Tate galleries, Urban Outfitters, ASOS, Paperchase, Topshop, Scribbler and lots more, including international expansion. Mark and Jamie’s objective is to make ohhdeer.com the place to go to find a quirky illustrated gift.”  They have just launched round three of the almighty ‘pillow fight’ and Mia Mai is getting involved… I have 4 designs in the competition, the more popular my designs are, the more chance I have of becoming a winner!!! …and some individual shots below… The way the competition works is that pillows get rated higher ranking if they receive more exposure… You can support Mia Mai and your favourite designs by clicking on the photos and then following the ‘support/share links’ on the individual pages. Liking on Facebook, tweeting the designs and sharing on Pinterest! Any support you can give me will be much appreciated as I would love to start working with Ohh...

I know I know, it’s only October and we’ve not even had Halloween yet but from experience last year and on request from stock-lists I have finally got my Christmas card order in to the Printers! Yay… Fingers crossed I will have them in a couple of weeks so please do get in touch and let me know if you’d like to pre-order any! Like last year, all are new illustrations and are a limited edition print. I have designed 5 festive illustrations and in addition to this I have got a little crafty and created some cute minimal cards too! Here are my 5 illustration designs… (click on the designs to view bigger) And here are a couple of sneak peeks of the other designs I have made, using felt and wood festive shapes stuck onto recycled brown cards! I will of course take some proper photos soon and will list them in the shop when I can! I hope you like!...

Portsmouth Woman of the Year Award 2014

So, last year Portsmouth launched an annual ‘Woman of the Year’ Awards. The idea is to “shine a light on those who put others before themselves and have blazed a trail of achievement that inspires other women”. The ceremony is a way of celebrating the achievements of the women who make the biggest impact on our communities, personal lives and business. And I got nominated… which was lovely, but The News have just released the shortlist and I, along with my lovely friend Naomi Thompson have made the three finalists for the ‘Woman in Fashion’ Category. How very exciting! The Ceremony takes place on November 22 at a local hotel and I’m really excited! A chance to get all dressed up and celebrate some inspirational local ladies! I will keep you all updated on how it goes… here’s a couple of pictures of the...
